At Cecilienplatz 11, a residential building with eleven full stories, a commercial area and an underground garage with 20 car parking spaces and 225 bicycle parking spaces is being built. The first floor is intended for commercial use: Instead of the previous supermarket, a modern consumer market will be built here. Above this, there will be ten residential floors with 116 apartments, the uppermost of which will have a staggered floor. The project will be realized on a total rentable area of 6,100 m² of living space, of which approx. 1,800 m² will be commercial space.
Most of the apartments will be comfortable 2-room apartments between 45-75 m², 69 of which will be barrier-free. Two passenger elevators will provide safe, quiet and comfortable transportation to the apartments. Each of these will be complemented by a balcony or terrace. The spacious terraces on the roof of the supermarket sales area give the surrounding apartments a penthouse character.
The underground garage eases the parking situation in the area of the square and offers the luxury of being able to drive directly to one's home in a congested area. Due to its height, the new building blends in with the regional architecture of the surrounding buildings, but is an expression of contemporary architectural design and meets today's standards for sophisticated living.
Overall, the new building will enhance the urban development of Cecilienplatz, which is also in the spirit of the district authorities: Cecilienplatz is to be given a new face in the coming years, with particular emphasis on maintaining the social infrastructure. Open spaces and playgrounds are planned, and the green areas are also to be redesigned and made more attractive in the course of the new development, which will increase the recreational value for residents and enhance the quality of living.
